Why star connection does not get short circuited ?
Hello guys, today we are going to discuss about an interesting question. Why star connection does not get short circuited ?
Before the discussion , lets see what is short circuit and what is the cause of sc in a electrical system.
Definition:
A short circuit is an abnormal condition in an electrical
circuit where the electrical current flows through shorter
pathway instead of following the circuit.
Let's discuss in a simple way .
Consider one phase and one neutral ,
Case I : connect them via a load ( it may be resistive, capacitive or inductive)
circuit will work under normal condition and the electrical energy passing though the resistor will be liberated in the form of heat in case of bulb without any short circuit .
Case II : connect them ( P and N ) without any load .
Short circuit will happen
Let us now turn to your question. Why our star connection does not get short circuited ?
Well , the reason is hidden in above concept . Whenever we connect the phases in star , we connect them through resistors or inductors or capacitors which has enough resistance or impedance.
Hence Each winding has its own resistance , due to this reason our electrical energy will be converted in the form of heat , magnetic form, mechanical form ( depending upon the load - bulb , transformer , motor ).
The same reason is applicable for the delta connection.
I hope you enjoyed the blog 😇 .

Why ammeter is always connected in a series ?
An ammeter is an electrical device which measures the amount of current flowing in a electrical circuit.
It is a very low resistance ( almost zero) device.
If it will be connected in parallel, it would draw most of the current i.e. short circuit condition will happened and ammeter would get damaged ( as current follows low resistance path ).
Hence ammeter is always connected in series.
I hope this helps you . Thank you ❤️
